Conversion Forklift Training Course

Our conversion courses are perfectly suited to operators who already have a certification to operate a certain type of forklift but wish to learn how to operate a different type or achieve a different type of certification within the same type of forklift. A conversion course is usually quicker and more cost-effective than a full forklift training course, as it builds upon the existing skills and knowledge an operator already has.

Our courses can be tailored to your needs to ensure you receive the necessary training and certification to operate a forklift safely and effectively. Our instructor can travel to you, or courses can be taken in our centres based in Kidderminster and Redditch.

How long does this course last?

Course duration will depend on how many delegates attend the training:

  • One delegate: One day
  • Up to three delegates: Two days

Who should take a conversion forklift training course?

Who should take a conversion course is down to the discretion of the employer. It’s advisable if an operator will be using equipment that is significantly different to that which they are already trained to use, for example, moving from a small, 1000kg rated capacity electric counterbalance to a larger, 6000kg capacity diesel counterbalance. A change in controls and application, which can even vary between lift trucks of the same type, would also normally necessitate conversion training.

What level of skill is required?

This course is designed for candidates who already have a qualification in one category but require training either to operate a different type of machine or a different licence within the same machine type.

How is this course assessed?

Through practical assessment and a written theory test.

What certification will I receive?

After training has been completed, you will receive a certificate of competency through nationally recognised accrediting body AITT. It is recommended by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) that knowledge is updated every three to five years through a refresher course to maintain standards in health & safety and efficiency.
